NINA KETEL MENTORING
Nina Ketel Mentoring is simple: to provide high-quality services for our valued clients.
My name is Nina Ketel, I run Nina Ketel Mentoring where I specialise in Coaching ladies and young people back into the workplace.
I worked for the local authority for over 13 years with the last 4, working as a ‘Team Leader’ in Adult Social Care where I managed teams over 2 offices.
I became very passionate about encouraging my teams to reach for the stars.
Their 121’s and Personal Development Folders (PDR’s) was never just a tick in the box, it was about them, what they really wanted in their working career.
If they wanted to apply for a higher scale role. I spent quality time working with them showing them how the application system worked, the interview process, how they can use their own working history and life skills for competency style interview questions.
Over the years I built up a very good reputation around the council in other departments as the go-to person for a variety of work related issues, including giving additional personal support, how to get that permanent role.

What We Do
Getting a job is never easy.
My job – in a nutshell – is to help you do just that.
By helping you identify your strengths and make the most of them.
By arming you with ways to overcome your weaknesses.
By giving you the inner confidence that shows employers that they need you.
How we’ll go about it: you and me.
From the moment you ask me to help, we become a team dedicated to your success.
Together, we’ll go through your personal history and your employment history, learning about things that might have gone wrong, or things that might have been done better.
We’ll map out all your good points and identify the kind of jobs where these will be truly valued.
We’ll look at your goals. Not just the immediate one of finding employment, but lifetime goals, too.
All of this takes time and commitment from both of us - and a disciplined approach.
Below is the kind of structure I work to – but it’s not set in stone. Everyone is different and there may be parts of this process you need more than others. You don’t have to sign up to the whole programme and you can, of course, quit at any time.
So this how I prefer to work:
Step 1: Getting to know each other
A free 30 minute consultation where I learn about you, and you decide whether you feel comfortable talking to me.
MAPPING YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
A 1-hour consultation where we go through your education, your achievements, your employment history and your interests, identifying what has worked and what hasn’t.
We’ll map these on paper to build up a picture of your abilities and talents.
BUILDING ON OUR LEARNING
A 1-hour consultation where we focus on your strengths and identify jobs and roles where these might most be valued. We look closely at what may have held you back in the past and start to develop strategies that take you forward.
APPLYING FOR JOBS
A 1-hour consultation where we look at the detail: how to apply in writing (letter or email), if it’s that kind of application. How to fill in forms. Preparing a concise pen-portrait of yourself (250 words) that can be used in ‘free form’ boxes or emails. Creating a good CV.
A 1-hour consultation where we discuss what works best in interviews and what doesn’t. We role-play an interview situation (I will have given you a description of the job you’re applying for before our session so you can (rehearse)
A 1-hour consultation where we prepare you for an interview you have gained for a specific job (this may need to come earlier in the course, if it has happened sooner.)
Preparation means detailing the kind of things you need to say about yourself and also getting you into a positive and confident frame-of-mind.
I first met Nina in January this year at an event relating to employment at Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport. I felt I instantly connected with her across the table we shared with a few other guests and we started talking during the coffee break. I openly discussed my problems with her regarding returning to suitable employment and the difficulties I had experienced over the past few years since being made redundant in 2014. It was a great relief to express my thoughts and feelings with her because I had held it inside for so long not wanting to bother anyone with it. I instantly felt better inside myself for doing this. We swapped phone numbers at the end of the event and have been in touch for the past five months. She has supported me in applying for a few positions within the council and I feel my self-confidence has increased greatly, she has provided me with advice and support whilst I have worked hard at home to improve my IT skills and interview techniques. She also met with me a few times in her lunch hour to offer support. Finally I have now been offered a position within the council and I feel my life has changed and now for the first time in a few years I have hopes for the future once again and an opportunity to develop myself further and go on to better things. I feel I am now at the start of a path that will lead me to greater things. I will always be grateful for her help and would recommend her to anyone because she is extremely caring, dedicated and supportive towards anyone that she meets.
Nina has been so supportive with my son at work and has been so much more than just his supervisor. He started working for her during his apprenticeship at 18, with Nina's reassurance, advice and support we were delighted when he gained full time employment in the same department in Sept 2017. His confidence and belief in himself has greatly improved and he has learned so much during the last 18 months. Nina genuinely cares about helping young people, and I'm sure many more will benefit from her caring nature in the future.

I know I’ve said thank you face to face several times for all the help you provided me with regarding my recent job interview, however, I just wanted to put it down on paper too so it could be recognised by others.
You were so encouraging and you gave me so much confidence. I so appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to explain the process to me and go through the type of information the assessors might be looking for. Although I was still very nervous I felt so much more prepared because of the input you had.
Once again, many many thanks.
Rob Business Support Officer Stockport Coroners Court
I would just like to say thanks a lot for the interview practice sessions you gave me in the running to my interview. Interviews have always been something I find nerve-racking however I felt going through it with you made me so much more confident. When in the interview I was asked questions which I had already gone over similar ones with you and didn’t have to worry about instantly thinking of what my response would be which resulted in me getting the job.
Thank you, Rob
She EMPOWERED me!
A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Nina on LinkedIn! Not living too far away from each other, coffee was definitely on the cards
but Covid put a stop to that so Zoom it was!
We wanted to learn about each others business journeys & Nina was struggling with some Social Media Optimisation and I offered a helping hand to make sure she was comfortable doing it herself.
This pandemic has been life changing for so many people, some have had job losses, money worries and ill family members & others including myself have found it life changing for the better!
I’ve been on a self-development journey with my business, Joli Stag, because I want to do and release so many things all at once but have never had the confidence - this is where Nina came in and completely flipped my world.
She EMPOWERED me.
She empowered me by making my goals feel possible, by making me feel worthy of success, by opening up my mind to new possibilities & by not thinking my ideas were mad!
Nina has such a passion by nature to help & support others who really need it. Whether it’s more money, more balance, or a total change of direction. The key to getting what you want could be meeting with a mentor & I would recommend to contact Nina!
